Looking at a camaro with NO reverse?

Looking at 95 automatic Chevy camaro with no reverse gear. Seller stated all other gears work fine, e-brake engages, but thinks the "shifter cable" may be loose, frayed etc.car is selling (well) below KBB, but is this a 2000 dollar fix i.e. new ?? any h3lp would be helpful, thanks
