How the data on the clipboard of my Computer (ram) gets erased?

I am using a music software which acknowledges all the editing activity I'm doing; giving me many chances to undo things; but after a while a prompt from Windows pops up telling me to delete programs that I'm not using. I have done that but still I want to know if I can program the computer to automatically take care of that. By the way I have windows Xp
